Horseback Riding Lessons
Portuguese Bend Riding Club offers riding lessons for riders of all experience levels. Riders must be at least 5 years old to join the fun.
Beginners of all ages start with private riding lessons (one on one with an instructor) which last 60 to 75 minutes at a price of $50 to $65 depending upon the length of the lesson. This is a two part lesson. On the ground the student learns to handle the horse from the ground, and how to groom and tack up the horse in preparation for the lesson. In the saddle the student learns horseback riding basics. Once the groundwork is mastered the student moves on to private 30 minute lessons at a cost of $45. The student arrives 20 to 30 minutes prior to the start of the lesson to groom and tack up their horse du jour. After their instructor is certain both student and mount are well prepared the lesson in the saddle begins. Once basic riding skills are mastered the student moves on to either a 40 minute semi-private lesson or an hour long group lesson.
